Firstly, assuming my judgement is correct, one should be loyal to his/her partner. Wait. This IS correct. It's a fact. Okay. This simply means a boy or a girl should not be having a second affair with another party when he/she is engaged in an 'official' relationship with a partner. So, one cannot possibly have the best of both worlds, right? I didn't say that, the marriage law did.
Sadly, in our society, or rather, a society which is only known to me (I hope), people's mentality and rationale are going through a transmogrification - they seem to think that having a secret relationship with a third party is nothing at all. To defend themselves, they came up with excuses like:
A) I'll feel guilty if I ditch my girlfriend (official) just to be with her (third party).
B) I sympathize her (third party) so I gave her a chance and try out this relationship.
C) I love both. Is it possible for me to have two instead of choosing just one?
Those 3 are the only excuses I can come up with based on a true story heard and shared. I'm going to share this story with you then. (No cliffhangers, promise!)
Once upon a time....
There was a boy named Eddie*. Eddie lived with his single dad, of which this boy
obviously had suffered a lot from his recently-broken family. He couldn't accept
the fact at first, but slowly he began to understand that everything happened
for a reason, a reason he knew too well that he swore to himself not to let it
happen again. He had a good friend, Jo*, who was there for him all the time when
he needed someone to talk to. Eddie managed to sail through this tough phase of
his life, because of Jo. She helped him recover. She gave him the reason to move
on. He loved her. They became an item and things went smoothly between them.
Just like a romantic Korean love story. Okay, just kidding about that part.
Helen* was a girl who went to the same Math class as Eddie. Eddie, tall
and dark seemed to attract girls' attention easily. Helen was no exception. She
fell for him the third week of the class, of which she denied and pretended that
she despised him due to his confidence of giving the correct answers and not
giving others a chance to answer. That was that, and as time passed, she
realised she was in love with him very much. She started to ask her friends for
his numbers and not long after, they became friends.
If I can remember
it well, Helen took quite some time to confess her feelings. Eddie couldn't
accept her feelings as he was in a relationship with Jo at that time. He kindly
rejected Helen and told her he preferred them to be friends. Helen was
depressed. She told him she could wait. No matter how long it will take, she
would wait. If that didn't touch Eddie, it has certainly made an impact on
Eddie. Eddie didn't want to hurt her. He didn't want to be the mean one.
Helen and Eddie became close friends. Eddie soon found himself more
comfortable sharing his problems with Helen than doing so with Jo. Since then,
Eddie started to diverge his concentration - he realized he was spending more
time with Helen, his best friend. Just best friend?
Eddie told Helen he
loved her four months later. It meant the world for Helen, but little did he
realize (or remember) he was still in a relationship with Jo. A strained
relationship. Jo was independent. She didn't need to text her boyfriend all day
just to know he was doing fine. Just a simple text message will do. Or a phone
call. That was enough for Jo. But Eddie needed attention and the only attention
that was able to be provided by Helen. But he couldn't leave Jo. It was her
kindness and sincerity that made him pull through. She saved him when he thought
he couldn't move on with life when his parents divorced. He loved her... to
thank her. He was being grateful. And that reason was enough for him to retain
the relationship. He cannot and will not make the same mistake his father did.
Never. He didn't have the courage to tell Jo the truth.
Helen, on the
other hand, loved Eddie with her life. She wasn't encouraging Eddie to breakup
with his girlfriend. She wanted his attention and care as much as he wanted
hers. But it wasn't worth it. Not at all. Eddie didn't want to leave Jo, but
didn't want to stop loving Helen at the same time. (Jerk) He wanted both. If
only he didn't have to choose... Helen couldn't take it anymore. She wanted to
tell Jo that Eddie was secretly having a relationship (kind of) with the former.
It was a win-or-lose situation. One must leave. Helen didn't have the courage to
tell Jo. She didn't know how. Nothing in this universe can make Helen surrender
Eddie to Jo. She thought Eddie loved her more - Eddie was hers.
Torn in
between two: That was exactly Eddie's situation. He loved Jo out of gratefulness
and Helen out of... sympathy. (Jerk x2!)
But just how long can things
remain at this state? How long can Eddie keep the two girls? Something bad is
bound to happen. Just... when?
I need some feedback. I know this is not exactly important. But.... just a feedback will do. :D
